The MacArthur Research Network on Youth and Participatory Politics (YPP) formed out of recognition that youth are critical to the future of democracy and that the digital age is introducing technological changes that are impacting how youth develop into informed, engaged, and effective actors.

Black Millennials in America: Documenting the experiences, voices and political future of young Black Americans
by Jon C. Rogowski and Cathy J. Cohen
December 8, 2015
The Black Millennials report covers the political attitudes and reported actions of millennials. This report aims to help amplify the voices of Black millennials to reach policymakers, community groups, political organizations, journalists, and the wider public. The data that document the unique challenges and opportunities faced by Black millennials in areas including jobs and employment, education, healthcare, guns and violence and the criminal justice system should be used to inform public policy discussions across these various issue areas. The original survey data presented here about young people’s political participation and policy attitudes can be useful for political campaigns and community organizations who seek to mobilize young people around pressing political issues.
