YPP Network Description

The MacArthur Research Network on Youth and Participatory Politics (YPP) formed out of recognition that youth are critical to the future of democracy and that the digital age is introducing technological changes that are impacting how youth develop into informed, engaged, and effective actors.

Allen Linton II

Allen Linton II is a political science doctoral student working with Cathy Cohen’s Chicago Team at the University of Chicago. Allen coordinates the Black Youth Project’s Chicago Team for the Educating for Participatory Politics project working with Chicago Public Schools and the Global Citizenship Initiative to pilot a civics education curriculum infused with digital media. He is also investigating how young people of color, particularly Black youth, experience politics in online spaces. His work focuses on youth politics, the role of new/social media in politics, and local political engagement.
