YPP Network Description

The MacArthur Research Network on Youth and Participatory Politics (YPP) formed out of recognition that youth are critical to the future of democracy and that the digital age is introducing technological changes that are impacting how youth develop into informed, engaged, and effective actors.

Morgan Johnstonbaugh

Morgan Johnstonbaugh is a research assistant working with Jennifer Earl on the Youth Activism Project. She is interested in political sociology, rhetoric, and culture. Her master’s paper explores the process through which politicians engage in image repair on Twitter. She is a second year graduate student at the University of Arizona, and she completed her undergraduate degree at Wellesley College in 2014. She assists in analyzing interviews with high school and college students to study how social media influences participation in activism and civil discourse.
